FAQ/CARE
What materials do you use? We use 100% recycled silver, 14k, and 18k gold in our designs. Some pieces are crafted with 14k gold fill, giving the look of gold without the higher cost, which is often used for larger metal necklaces and earrings. Solid gold is reserved for small accents when mixing metals. We also reuse scrap metal whenever possible.
Do you do custom work? Yes, please email me at melody@melodyjeandesigns.com in order to inquire about the piece. There is a $200 deposit to start custom pieces.
What is gold fill ? Gold-filled material is made by bonding a layer of gold alloy to a base metal, usually brass or silver. Gold fill is not gold plated and will not chip or flake. Gold fill is a popular choice for jewelry because it's durable, affordable, and hypoallergenic.
How do I clean my jewelry? Use a little mild dish detergent and a soft tooth brush. This will usually get most of the shine back. It’s helpful to soak the piece in soap and water first before brushing. I like to use Sunshine polishing cloths when bigger pieces are heavily tarnished. To keep your jewelry clean store in an airtight bag so that the metal isn’t exposed to oxygen which can accelerate tarnishing and oxidation. (Sometimes just wearing the jewelry can give the jewelry a little polish) Do not use any cleaning chemicals because it can damage the stones and take away the patina altering the look of the original piece.
Where are your gemstones from? All gemstones are natural and ethically sourced. While many of our stones are purchased in the U.S., we also source from established gem suppliers and lapidary artists around the world who follow ethical practices. We carefully select each stone at gem shows and through trusted suppliers
Packaging? Our packaging is recycled and made in the U.S.
Do you accept returns ? We don’t accept returns, but we’re happy to offer an exchange within two weeks of your original purchase. Our goal is for you to love your jewelry so if there is an issue, don't hesitate to reach out.
Do you do repairs? My jewelry is intended to last a lifetime so if for some reason the piece has broken from a flaw on my end within the first 6 months then I will repair free of charge. If the jewelry has been accidentally damaged or damaged from regular wear and tear then I will assess and determine IF I can repair. There will be a charge for this type of repair. I only do repairs on pieces I have created.
